Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD Lens for Canon
SP (Super Performance)
Only two letters – but what an impact they have on the results.
SP stands for Super Performance and represents the high-performance lens class from Tamron.
Our engineers were given a free hand in the design of these lenses and left no stone unturned to produce the optimal performance characteristics in each case. Take your camera to new frontiers – and pave the way for Super Performance.
Ready and very steady
Zoom up to 600mm for images that soar
Capture the power and beauty of wildlife, birds, travel destinations, and exciting sports action close-ups with this high-performance 150 – 600mm long-range zoom.
VC ( Vibration Compensation) and USD ( Ultrasonic Silent Drive) enable you to shoot crisp images of fast-moving, distant subjects handheld, while proprietary Tamron optical technology, including eBAND Coating, works to suppress flare and ghosting for impressively clear, vibrant images.
Delivering leading-edge image quality
The optical design of this lens uses a high-performance XLD (Extra Low Dispersion) element, which is manufactured out of a special glass with an extremely low refractive index. The refractive index describes the ability of the lens to split a light beam into its spectral colours. The dispersive properties are even lower than standard LD lenses and are at a level similar to fluorite. The XLD lens in combination with the LD element delivers the highest contrast and brilliance. This effectively prevents the problem of chromatic aberration in telephoto photography and delivers a high level of sharpness even in the peripheral regions. The result is a lens that effectively compensates for axial chromatic aberration and magnification aberration throughout the entire zoom range and guarantees the highest resolution and brilliance for your pictures.
USD
The Ultrasonic Silent Drive (USD) is Tamron’s latest generation of autofocus motors. Thanks to the advanced motor technology and the newly developed software, the USD enables a fast, precise and almost silent photographic experience. There are few better options for capturing quick and dynamic subjects that arise in areas such as sports photography, fast cars or even wildlife photography.

VC (Vibration Compensation)
The VC Image Stabilizer delivers sharp and shake-free images, as well as a smooth viewfinder image.
USD (Ultrasonic Silent Drive)
Powerful ultrasonic motor for quick and dynamic subjects. It is extremely quiet, precise and allows manual control at any time.
Super Performance
Tamron’s Super Performance series delivers a range of lenses that meet the highest standards.
eBAND Coating
Nano-structured lens coating to protect against unwanted reflection and ghosting.
LD (Low Dispersion)
Lens element for greater image sharpness and the correction of chromatic aberration.
XLD (Extra Low Dispersion) Gla
A special glass with an extremely low colour dispersion index for the greatest level of sharpness and compensation of chromatic aberration.
Internal-Focusing (IF)-System
The extension length of the lens does not change during focussing and the close focussing distance is significantly reduced across the entire focusing range.
Zoom Lock (ZL) Mechanism
Protects against undesired extension of the lens barrel.

Enhanced optics meet greater versatility
The SP 150-600mm G2 includes three LD (Low Dispersion) lens elements which completely eliminate axial and transverse chromatic aberrations. It also features upgraded optical construction (21 elements in 13 groups).
Anti-reflection technologies, eBAND (Extended Bandwidth & Angular-Dependency) Coating and BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) Coating improve light transmission and suppress internal reflections, including light reflected off the camera’s image sensors. So even when taking a backlit or semi-backlit photograph, ghosting and flare caused by reflected light are fully eliminated.
Additional enhancements expand the lens’ versatility. For example, MOD (Minimum Object Distance) has been reduced to 2.2m (86.6 in) so you can enjoy tele-macro photography and dramatic bokeh.
The Model A022 is equipped with the USD (Ultrasonic Silent Drive) ring-type motor that delivers excellent responsiveness and control. AF speed is significantly improved from current model, and it enables accurate high-speed focus even when capturing moving subjects.
When shooting with AF, the Full-time Manual Focus override allows you to instantly make fine focusing adjustments manually, without having to switch between modes.
Keep it steady with improved VC
The VC (Vibration Compensation) effectiveness is equivalent to 4.5 stops, based on image stabilization performance levels established by CIPA (Camera & Imaging Products Association) when using in VC MODE 3. Model A022 now has three types of VC modes, and it is possible to choose the optimum VC mode according to the situation for taking a photograph, such as when wishing to pan the camera.
The improved VC minimizes blurring caused by slight camera movement, which is prevalent with long telephoto lenses and even more troublesome with higher-resolution cameras. VC enhances the freedom of hand-held shooting at slower shutter speeds required by low-light conditions such as dusk.
VC MODE 1 is the standard mode that strikes a great balance between the stability of the viewfinder image and the stabilization effects.
VC MODE 2 is exclusively used for panning.
VC MODE 3 prioritizes the stabilization of the captured images and forgoes the stabilization of the viewfinder image.
With the optional accessory TAMRON TAP-in Console™, you can custom the configuration of VC MODE 1. Choose the viewfinder view of either Standard or viewfinder image priority.
FLEX ZOOM LOCK mechanism enables zoom lock at any position
FLEX ZOOM LOCK mechanism quickly locks or unlocks the zoom at any position simply by sliding the zoom ring. Photographers can shoot from any angle without the zoom extending unintentionally. Additionally, the customary Zoom Lock switch prevents unwanted barrel extension during transportation.
Intuitive design plus cutting-edge performance
The new design adopted for the four fixed focal lens models in the SP series already on the market is essentially a fusion of engineering and style, in pursuit of functional beauty and craftsmanship by paying thorough attention to minute details. With metal used as the exterior material, a high-grade design has been created based on the design concept that emphasizes “Human Touch” characteristics, with user-friendliness considerably improved as a result. Those SP models feature a novel design for the switches, easy-to-read characters, an enlarged window over the distance scale, and the adoption of organic forms easy for the photographer’s fingers to hold onto.
